The incident started as a car crash on the Eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike at Mile Marker 167 in Brush Creek Township, Fulton County. That's just past the Bedford County line. The drivers of a car and a tractor trailer got in a verbal fight after the car crash. When the State Trooper out of Everett arrived on scene the driver of the car turned on him.
State Police say the driver came at the trooper in a menacing way with a couple of Rottweilers, and then hit the trooper multiple times with a metal flashlight. During the fight the trooper shot and killed the 46 year old man. The trooper was flown to Altoona Regional for his injuries.
State police aren't releasing the driver's name because they haven't notified the man's family. The Hollidaysburg Troop G Major Crimes Unit is still investigating the shooting.
