Teenager Escapes Police In Handcuffs, Then Turns Himself In

By: Brian Thompson

An Indiana teenager is free on bond this week after being arrested, escaping, and then turning himself in.

According to WBBM Newsradio, Zachary Keilman was arrested for underage drinking and placed in a police car in handcuffs.   Police say the 18-year-old managed to escape with the cuffs still around his wrist while the arresting officer was distracted.   Zachary had someone cut the chain to the handcuffs, but soon realized he had left his ID in the car and ultimately decided to turn himself in.   He told police he was pretty sure there was a warrant out for his arrest and offered his manacled wrists to the doubting officer.

Keilman was fitted with a second set of handcuffs after being charged with escape and fleeing.
