HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - The trial of John Ray, accused of shooting at police in Altoona, will go to the jury Thursday afternoon.  Closing arguments took place before lunch on Thursday, after Ray took the stand in his own defense.  Ray is accused of running from police after a traffic stop in November 2008.  Prosecutors say he fired a gun at officers, who returned fire.  Ray was hit 4 times in the shootout, but no officers were injured by the gunfire.  Ray was the final witness to testify.  He claims he didn't have a gun and doesn't know why he's accused of firing a weapon at officers.  He says he ran from police because he was afraid they would hurt or kill him.  Police recovered a stolen gun at the scene.
