HAZEL, CLEARFIELD COUNTY -The Fitzgerald's went to their barn to feed their horses last Wednesday as usual, but when their daughter's horse, Wrangler, wasn't around, they knew something was wrong. When Mark Fitzgerald, 10, and his friend Misty found Wrangler, he was stuck in a four-foot trench that the family had dug to install new electrical lines. The children ran to a neighbor's house and called 911, and minutes later the Warsaw Volunteer Fire Department was there to help. Half an hour later, about 50 friends, neighbors, and firefighters were on the Fitzgerald's farm, doing everything they could to save Wrangler. The horse was pulled from the trench about two hours later, but passed away a week later from it's injuries. However, the Fitzgerald's are overwhelmed by the support they received from the community, and they are thankful that Wrangler died surrounded by his family instead of in an icy trench.
