BUSINESS PAGE - General Motors is going into battery production is a big way. General Motors is now in the business of producing battery packs for the long awaited Chevy Volt. G.M. has spent over $40 million on a new battery production plant that is l located in near Detroit, Michigan. The plant employs about 100 people and will produce battery packs for the Volt which is expected to go into commercial production later this year. The new generation of Lithium Ion batteries are part of a growing effort to produce all Electric Vehicles that will appeal to the average consumers and could transform the U.S. Auto Industry. ....................................
 While G.M. is looking to the future, a number of its now closed Auto Dealerships may be getting back into the auto sales business. An arbitration process ordered by Congress is taking up the case of the 13-hundred dealers that lost their G.M franchises is a cost cutting move last year as the Auto Giant was going through bankruptcy.. Analysts expect about 100 of those now closed dealers to be opening back up as a result of the process.

If you are among the people interested in the latest high tech gear, its time to head West. The Annual Consumer Electronics Show is underway in Las Vegas. The trade show that brings together all of the latest cell phones, computer systems and entertainment equipment. About 25,000 thousand people are expected to attend. Attracting the most attention at this year's C.E.S. are plans to bring 3-d viewing to the home television screen.
