Rainbows Over Blair County 2
By: Weather Intern Phil DeCastro

Afternoon thunderstorms, while at times disruptive to daily activities and plans, sometimes result in beautiful sights. This double rainbow appeared on the backside of a thunderstorm that passed through Blair County. Dr. Jack Rocco grabbed his camera and a fisheye lens (for the second photo) and took these great photos of a double rainbow. The double bow can be seen better in the close up shot, but the fisheye lens enabled him to get the entire arc into view of the camera. As you can see, the entire semi-circle was visible, appearing to connect with the ground at both ends. However, there was no mention of any pots of gold being found--just a missing box of Lucky Charms.
