Pirates Top Prospect Pedro Alvarez delivered an RBI double in the bottom of the first to score Jose Tabata and the run would prove to be the difference as the Curve held on to beat Erie 1-0 Wednesday night at Blair County Ballpark. Kyle Bloom (2-4) picked up his second win of the season after matching his season long start throwing six shutout innings allowing just three hits and striking out a season high seven batters.  Sean Smith finished off the seventh Curve shutout of the season with three innings of work, giving up just one hit to pick up his seventh save of the year.
