Saturday was one of those rare days where you had the choice of either ski's or your 6-iron, and plenty of people in the area certainly took advantage of both.

A picture perfect day at Blue Knob Ski Resort and the skis and snowboards were out in full force.

After this week's snow dropped 11 inches of fresh powder on the slopes, warmer temperatures were an added bonus.

"I've skied the last five days and every day has gotten a little bit better. Skiing is just absolutely great right now," Rocky Sprow of Frigid says.

Conditions Sprow hopes keeps the ski season going as long as possible.

"Obviously it depends on the weather but if we can get another three or four weeks that's what we're hoping. If we can get into April life is good," Sprow says.

While skiers and snowboarders were trying to take advantage of the slopes as the season winds down, local golfers were out working on their short game trying to get a head start on their season.

"We've been anxiously waiting to play. Didn't get to go south because they got snow like we did so we're coming out now," Jim Baughman of Hollidaysburg says.

It was a long winter. Very long. Everybody is just itching to get out," Matt McConnell of Hollidaysburg says.

Just a few miles north of Blue Knob the links at Sylvan Hills were open for business after a snowy season.

"We usually play a good bit through the winter, but this year it was always white," Baughman says.

Making these guys even more anxious to shake off the rust.

"Probably going to be plenty rough, both the course and the play," Baughman says.

While the course was a little soggy, local golfers say they were just happy to get outside and enjoy the nice temperatures. Now they say the goal is to keep them here.
