STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - New England Patriots offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Josh McDaniels will be the featured speaker at Penn State Annual Football Coaches Clinic, March 22-23 on the University Park campus.

Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien and his staff will welcome several hundred coaches from across the nation for the annual clinic, which will take place during the midst of the Nittany Lions' spring practice. The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 22, with final registration starting at 7:30 a.m. in Holuba Hall. O'Brien will speak to all clinic attendees Friday night prior to the coaches' social gathering and attendees will have an opportunity to watch a full practice on March 23.

McDaniels also will speak to the clinic attendees on March 22.

O'Brien and McDaniels worked together on New England's offensive coaching staff in 2007 and 2008 and January 2012, helping the Patriots advance to Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. O'Brien was the Patriots' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during their 2011 AFC Championship campaign, being named Penn State's 15th head coach on January 6, 2012.

McDaniels is entering his 10th season with the Patriots, serving on the staff from 2001-08 and returning in 2012. He has helped New England win three Super Bowl titles and four AFC Championships. McDaniels was named the Patriots' quarterbacks coach in 2004 and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2006. During the 2007 season, McDaniels oversaw a unit that broke several NFL records, including points scored, and touchdowns scored. A native of Canton, Ohio and graduate of John Carroll University, he was head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2009 and '10 and served as the St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator during the 2011 season.

The Penn State Football Coaches Clinic will feature two days of lectures and demonstrations by the Nittany Lions' staff, led by O'Brien, who directed Penn State to wins in eight of its final 10 games last fall and a 6-2 Big Ten record. In his first season as head coach, O'Brien was selected the 2012 Bear Bryant, Maxwell Football Club and ESPN National Coach of the Year and the Big Ten-Dave McClain Coach of the Year.

Penn State's annual spring gathering traditionally draws more than high school and youth league coaches from all parts of the country and beyond the United States.

The spring clinic will feature sessions with the Nittany Lions' offensive and defensive coaching staffs on March 22. Clinic attendees will have an opportunity to observe a full practice on March 23, as the Nittany Lions will be in the midst of spring practice. The Blue-White Game is April 20 at 12 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.
