This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the Armistice that officially ended the Korean Conflict. A local Armed Forces Event Committee is honoring Korean War Veterans living in Cambria and Somerset Counties at this year's Armed Forces Dinner, May 16th, 2013.
On today's show, Lt. Col. Craig Minnick and Lowell Shaffer, Korean War Veteran and Armed Forces Event - Honorary Chairman, joined Dawn to talk about the anniversary and the dinner.
If you are a veteran who served between June 27, 1950 through 27 July 1954 please contact the Armed Forces Event Committee at 814-533-1781 or at ArmedForcesEvent@yahoo.com
In a press release regarding the dinner, Lowell Shaffer said, "The 60th Anniversary of the Armistice is a great opportunity for our community in Cambria and Somerset Counties to come together and hold an event that will provide both symbolic and real honor to the Veterans of what is often referred to as the 'Forgotten War. We want to provide recognition for these men and women and bring their sacrifice to the fore, so they know that our region has not and will not forget them."
