On today's show, Dawn talks with Matt Price and Amy Wise about the proposal to end rail service at the Huntingdon Amtrak Stop.  They also discuss a rally, set for this Friday, March 1st.

Location:
Huntingdon Amtrak Stop (4th and Allegheny Streets, Huntingdon)
Time: 10 a.m.

Agenda will include remarks from Representative Mike Fleck, the Huntingdon County Commissioners, Huntingdon County Economic Development Partners, Juniata College, and a Keynote Address by Michael Alexandra from Western Pennsylvanians for Passenger Rail.

The argument to save the train stop:
(From a Huntingdon County Business and Industry Inc.press release):
"Nearly 6,000 people annually utilize the train stop here in Huntingdon Borough. For many, this train stop means access to colleges, medical facilities or visiting loved ones.
A change in Federal Law (starting in October 2013) will require the state of Pennsylvania to pay approximately $5.7M to keep the Keystone West Corridor Train, the Pennsylvanian, running. Without action from the PA State Legislators, towns just like our from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg will lose Amtrak service. Join us to tell your legislators how important Amtrak service is to you!"
