"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greawww secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." -- Roald Dahl

I am an enthusiastic student (studying to be a teacher!), experimenting with cooking in my new life as an independent. My passions range from animals to live theatre. Originally born in upstate New York, I now live in Orlando, Florida. When I'm not hunched over my books studying ferociously, I enjoy blogging, reading, and being social.

Favorite Mr. Food recipe
: Better Baked Ziti! It's so simple when I invite friends over for dinner!

How often do I cook?
3-ish times per week

Who am I cooking for?
My roommates, my friends, and myself

How long have I been cooking?
Since I've had my own kitchen (about 1 year)

My biggest challenge in the kitchen
: Staying organized. When four people share a small kitchen, it's hard to keep everything in order!

What profession best describes me in the kitchen?
Intern! I only began cooking when I moved away from home to start my college career. I still have a lot to learn and I still need a lot of guidance! My parents are always happy to answer the "How do I know if it's cooked all the way through?" questions!

The kitchen appliance I couldn't live without
: The Microwave! I can't take to time away from my studies and college campus involvement to cook every night, so leftovers are a big deal for me! When I cook a nice meal, I make extra to ensure that I have dinner ready for the next few nights! I just pop the leftovers in the microwave and I'm set.

My ultimate meal
: Lachuch! I know it's obscure! Lachuch is a Yemenite flatbread that brushed with olive oil, sprinkled with oregano and basil, and topped with cheese and tomatoes is to die for!

The one food I can't stand
: Bacon! The greasy smell freaks me out (besides the fact that I'm a vegetarian!)!

The food that instantly takes me back to childhood is
: Mac and cheese! There is nothing more comforting to me than good ol' mac and cheese from my childhood days!

If I were a spice, I would be
: Rosemary! I love the flavor of rosemary!

My favorite food that grows from the earth is
: Blueberries! I can sit down with a big basket of them and eat away!

If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, it would be
: My Poppy (my Mom's Dad, who recently passed away)! My Poppy was such a character! His company made every meal taste even better because time spent with him was such a delight!

Sweet tooth, or salt-craver? What's my weakness? Sweet tooth! I love every kind of dessert! My sweet tooth is relentless!

"Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful." -- Joshua J. Marine

Hi, I'm Jessie. I am blessed with a twin sister who's also my best friend. We will be juniors this upcoming year. I study speech pathology at a wonderful Florida university and am very excited about my future. I cannot wait to be a working girl! My passions vary with everything from fashion to food, traveling to scrapbooking, animals to music, and the list most definitely keeps going on and on from there. My family and friends are of the great importance to me; I cherish all of the moments that we spend together and I feel so fortunate and privileged!

Favorite Mr. Food recipe
: Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

How often do I cook?
At home, not so much; away at college, maybe about 3 nights per week

Who am I cooking for?
Myself, my family, or my roommates/friends (my sister and I love entertaining at school)

How long have I been cooking
? I was born into a family of cookers (being that my PopPop is Mr. Food), but honestly, I haven't really followed in his (or my dad's, "the Snack" as some like to call him) footsteps. Sure, I can follow a recipe, but that really only began once I moved into my own apartment last year.

My biggest challenge in the kitchen: Being creative with my meals--as a college student, I have a small budget and am without many resources.

What profession best describes me in the kitchen? Since I am an extremely organized person, I would have to call myself "The Organizer."

The kitchen appliance I couldn't live without: Probably the oven... baking is my passion, more so than cooking!

My ultimate meal: I love almost any food, but if I really had to choose (and it's not an easy decision), I'd probably choose classic mac 'n' cheese--it's such a comfort food!

The one food I can't stand: I'm not a picky eater, but when it comes to certain fish, I am definitely not adventurous. For example, I will not ever taste salmon or tuna. Something about them both turns me off. Oh, and papaya--I despise its taste.

The food that instantly takes me back to childhood is: Fluffernutter--the delectable taste of marshmallow fluff and peanut butter--nothing beats it!

If I were a spice, I would be: Garlic powder--I think garlic just makes everything so much tastier!

My favorite food that grows from the earth is: Berries (all colors, all kinds)!

If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, it would be
: My late grandpa, poppy--I always loved sharing with him about my life, current events, music, and much much more--and he always loved listening (and contributing, too)! I miss him so so much and would give anything to share one more moment with him! Sitting around a family table definitely brings out the best in people!

Sweet tooth, or salt-craver? What's my weakness? Sweet tooth, for sure! I love anything sweet--mainly if it has chocolate in it. Anything from cookies to cheesecake and cupcakes to brownies; I love it all!
