A local elementary school student has been diagnosed with meningitis.

A spokesman  for the Altoona-Johnstown Roman Catholic Diocese confirmed the case in Blair County. He says the student at St. Rose of Lima in Altoona contracted meningitis due to a personal medical condition and it is not contagious. However, as a precaution, the school was given a thorough cleaning.

There's no word on the child's condition.
