JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY - The Johnstown Tomahawks announced the Johnstown Tomahawks Charity Classic benefiting the Pittsburgh Kids Foundation-Haiti and the Johnstown Tomahawks Foundation has been cancelled.

The team is just as upset about the cancellation as fans.

"I was really disappointed," says Tomahawk head coach Jason Spence. "For my team and for the city and for myself. It was a really big deal them [The Penguins] coming in. And no one knew this would happen. But things happen."

The team cites the Penguins' upcoming training camp and insurance concerns over potential player injuries as the reason for the game cancellation. Nine NHL players were scheduled to play.

"It's one of those things that's just unfortunate," says Tomahawks' Director of Ticket Operations Chris Anderson. "We work hard to bring as much as we can to our fans. We want to put a good product on the ice. But we also want to put some fun events together. And this was something that unfortunately was not able to be fulfilled."

Refunds will be given out to fans who bought tickets to the sold-out event, beginning this upcoming Monday, January 14th, at 10 a.m. Fans that bought tickets through the Tomahawks' Box Office should go there to be refunded. Those who bought tickets online through Ticketmaster should go through them for their money back.

The Tomahawks will get back on the ice on Friday, when they host Port Huron at War Memorial at 7pm.
