The record warmth that we had a for a couple of days is now a memory. A cold front moved across the region last night and in its wake we had a blustery and colder day today with more clouds than sunshine. There will still be a fair amount of clouds early tonight but then as an area of high pressure settles over the region later tonight will become clear and colder with lows well down into the 20s. This high pressure system will give us a fair amount of sunshine Thursday with just a few clouds streaming in later in the day. You should enjoy that sunshine while it lasts as the pattern will become quite unsettled through the upcoming weekend. The first in a string of disturbance will press into the region on Friday bringing us a period of chilly rainfall. In fact it will be cold enough that the precipitation could start as a touch of freezing rain on a few ridges. Saturday and Sunday will remain rather cloudy. A couple more periods of rain are likely over the weekend, but it won't rain all of the time. Temperatures will rise into the middle 40s each day but then milder air will win out ahead of the next front on Monday. It will be breezy Monday with showers and perhaps a thunderstorm later in the day or at night. Behind that next front a sharper shot of colder air is likely for the middle of next week.
