BETHESDA, MARYLAND -- The U.S. Department of Defense will rename and dedicate its national military cancer center as the "John P. Murtha Cancer Center."  Matthew Mazonkey, a spokesperson for Rep. Mark Critz and former spokesperson for the late Rep. Murtha, said the tribute is fitting.

"Mr. Murtha was a staunch advocate of military medical care and research, and he and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee were the driving forces behind improving cancer care for our military beneficiaries," Mazonkey said. "This will be the military's flagship cancer center, and will focus on the treatment of all cancers, but specialize in breast care, prostate care, gynecological care, and hematology-oncology."

The dedication is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda Maryland.  House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, members of Congress, and representatives from the Department of Defense will join the Murtha family for this dedication.

What a disgrace to this hospital, dedicating with his name, the same murtha that called our marines babykillers. what a sad day.
