Pitt Gets $11 Million for HIV Studies

Researchers at Pitt are getting nearly $11.5 million  in grants to study AIDS prevention. The funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will go toward several research initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh. 

They include  studies aimed at  finding a new way of detecting  HIV infection,  preventing the  infection with monthly injections,  determining if hormonal contraception affects the transmnission of  HIV, and looking for better ways to distribute HIV drugs across the globe.
