CENTRE COUNTY - Two centre county hotels have been recognized for being green.

The Nittany Lion Inn and the Penn State Conference Centre Hotel won the Pennsylvania Waste Watchers Award.

The award sponsored by Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania is given to businesses and schools that go above and beyond in their commitment to recycling and waste reduction.

The hotels try to use as much local produce in their kitchens as possible and recycle more than 250 pounds of organic water every year.
