ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY -- A violent crash on a busy road claimed the life of an elderly man Friday morning after a rollover collision on 7th Ave.

Police and emergency responders were called to the intersection of 7th Avenue and 31st Street shortly after 9 a.m. Friday to reports of a two-car collision that claimed one life. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Witnesses tell WTAJ a pick-up truck was heading north on 6th Avenue when the driver stopped for gas at Reighard's Service Station, at which time he appeared to be confused. He then drove over an embankment and up 31st Street. The truck drove through the parking lot of Alder's Landscaping before veering back into the street and collided with the front of a minivan stopped on the traffic line on 7th Avenue and 31st Street.

Witnesses say after the collision, the truck turned over and came to rest on its side blocking both southbound lanes of 7th Avenue.

A coroner was called to the scene shortly after emergency services responded. The driver of the pick up truck who died in the crash has been identified by the Blair County Coroner as 91 year old  Felipe Longo.  Patty Ross says it appears Longo had a medical condition that may have contributed to the fatal crash.
