Congressman Bill Shuster has represented the Ninth District of Pennsylvania in Congress for the past 11 years.
In Washington, he has focused on transportation needs. While the shape of the Ninth District has changed as a result of redistricting, Shuster says his re-election message is getting out.
Also on the ballot is the Democratic nominee Karen Ramsburg. The political newcomer has devoted the last two years to this race for Congress because she feels the people who live in Central Pennsylvania are not being well served by their current representation.
The Franklin County resident, historian and nurse started to run as an independent but switched to the Democratic party when a primary write in campaign became the best way to get her name on the November ballot.
For his part, Congressman Shuster says there is a role for Washington in promoting a better economy. He says that will be his focus if re-elected and he is able to move up to House Transportation Committee chairman.
