Two groups in State College are coming together to help raise awareness about child abuse, and abuse against women.

The S&R Foundation promotes empowerment for women. They're partnering with Defend A Child", a group made up of former Penn State football players who are looking to tackle child abuse, and turn the tide on many people's opinions of the team and school. Jo Grayson, who's with the S&R Foundation says the match seems like a natural fit.

"With an issue like this, you wan't to take a holistic approach to it. This is not a subject that's just sensitive to this area of the nation, I just think it opens up an opportunity for us in State College to really be at the forefront of coming together and forming partnerships, and that's why we partnered with Defend A Child."

Justin Williams, a board member with Defend A Child, says it's about changing perception and being proud to be proactive.

"...for us as lettermen, we want to advocate for and inspire more men, to to get involved with these issues. Typically they're issues that men shy away from for whatever reason, and so we're trying to make it ok for men to stand up publicly, and with facts, support children and women."
