Total cost of the project was $55 million. The Area is built to hold university and community events, concerts, shows and basketball. It is the largest entertainment complex in the region.
The arena is name after former university president Dr. Bryce Jordan. Dr. Jordan served at president from 1983 - 1990. He was a big part of Penn State's move to the Big Ten Conference.
When the Bryce Jordan Center was built, it was a state-of-the-art facility. The arena's design incorporates ultra-modern acoustics for concerts. The basketball court is completely portable. The jumbo-tron scoreboard features large, TV quality screens. Complete with hundreds of lights, the Bryce Jordan Center can host a variety of events.
Although the Bryce Jordan Center is owned by Penn State, the university pays rent to use the facility due to complex funding reasons.
