UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. -- Before completing a three-day minicamp, the 2012 Spikes met with the media on Sunday at Medlar Field.

A new Major League Baseball rule moved up the first-year player signing deadline from mid-August to mid-July, so more higher round draft picks from last week's MLB draft will begin their season with the Spikes.

So far, 29 players are on the Spikes Opening Day roster, including eight of the new Pirates signed draft picks. The Spikes begin their season in Williamsport on Monday and will continue the series with their home opener on Tuesday at Medlar Field.

Watch the video to see who is headlining this year's newcomers.
