State College Radio Hosts Win Farm Show Burger Contest

HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY -- Radio Show hosts P.J. Mullen and Bill Brasky bring home the blue ribbon in the PA Farm Show Burger Contest.

The morning show hosts from B94.5's "Morning Zoo" were the big winners in the PA Beef Council's Burger Showdown at the PA Farm Show.

The Morning Zoo crew went skillet to skillet against hosts Nancy Ryan and Nueman from BOB 94.9, a radio station in Harrisburg.

WTAJ News Anchor Amy Mearkle served as one of the judges for the burger contest.

The 2nd Place burger was called the "Crunch Burger"

The 1st Place winner was called the "Ste-eagle" after the Steelers and the Eagles.

“STEAGLE”

Recipe Prepared by Chef Randall Sherman

Ingredients (makes six burgers)
2 pounds lean ground beef
3 tablespoons Ground Morel Powder (may leave this out)
3 tablespoons Madeira Wine
3 tablespoons Kosher Salt
1 tablespoons Black Pepper
1 tablespoons Garlic Powder
1 tablespoons Onion Powder
12 Slices (Thin) Brie Cheese rind on
6 Cornmeal Dusted Kaiser Rolls
Melted Butter as needed
6 Slices Vine Ripened Tomato
Mixed Greens as needed
Thin sliced Red Onion as needed
Herb Aioli as needed
6 Kosher Pickle Spears

Directions
Mix ground beef, morel powder and Madeira well.  Separate into 6 patties and cook medium (approx. 130 degrees)  Season liberally while cooking with combined salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.  Butter and Grill rolls until golden and soft.  Build burgers by slightly melting brie cheese on burgers.  Spread aioli on top of bun.  Then add lettuce, tomato, and onion.  Serve with Pickle Spear.

TEAM BOB 94.9
“CRUNCHBURGER”
Ingredients (makes six burgers)
2 pounds 90% lean ground beef
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 tablespoons canola oil
8 slices cheddar cheese, each 1/4 inch thick
4 potato hamburger buns, toasted
4 slices beefsteak tomato
4 leaves romaine lettuce
Special secret sauce
4 handfuls of chips

Directions
Cook the burgers, using the oil and topping each one with 2 slices of cheese and a basting.  Cover during the last minute of cooking.  Place the burgers on the bun bottoms and top with tomato, lettuce, and a dollop of "special secret sauce."  Pile on chips, top with the bun tops, and serve immediately.
