With the arrival of warm spring temperatures  and lots of sunshine, the danger of wild fires has been going up.
Fire crews across the region have again been called out to deal with out of control  brush fires.

HUNTINGDON, HUNTINGDON COUNTY - This Thursday turned out to be another beautiful spring day complete with a new report of a  yard waste fire starting to get out of control.  In one Huntingdon County  case,  volunteers were able to respond fast and keep this brush blaze from spreading.

State agencies that deal with wild fire control  agree that at this time of year, any sort of outdoor burning  can have the potential to turn into a significant problem.  Because fields and woods  continue to dry out, the Department of Natural Resources  has  raised the level of fire danger from Low to Moderate  for this region.
Officers are also  predicting that the fire danger   will likely go  up to High by this coming weekend.

With conditions right for brush fires to spread quickly, the Department of Forestry is urging land owners to re-consider any current plans for outdoor burning  especially during the late morning and mid-afternoon.
Fire fighting agencies  including the Department of Natural Resources are still  gearing  up for the coming brush fire season  with a couple of air-tanker planes expected to arrive in the region over the next  few weeks.
When it comes to preventing brush fires, their best advice is to consider alternatives to burning  like composting and mulching your yard waste.
