In relation Tues. am truck accident on 219: In all the news reporting videos, why has noone noticed that the sign for "Active workzone when flashing" located in the background was not flashing. Shouldn't it have been flashing to alert drivers that there were workers present in the workzone?
It's good to hear that the worker's condition has been updated to "stable" now. This unfortunate accident could have been avoided though if the worker had exhibited a level of "safety" within a highway workzone. Alltogether, 3 people's lives have been affected directly by this accident, the safety negligent worker, the truck driver and the driver of the red car.
News reports have been centering on "speed" factors of vehicles within work zones. PennDOT has stated that excess speed was NOT a factor in this accident.
How about a news reporter taking an "honest" look into the cause and affect of this accident. Rather than all the inferences in relation to what was NOT a part?

How about some level of accuracy in the reporting here? The worker that was hit was not a "construction" worker. PennDot has already stated that he was a "consultant". He also was NOT pinned by the truck. He was struck by the truck and was BETWEEN the truck and the barrier. No mention has yet been made by news reporters that this worker stepped out into moving traffic, thus causing what ensued as a result of his negligence in doing such. Where's any mention of relative safety violations on the part of the worker whom was struck & this work zone? This accident could have had worse consequences for all involved. The worker should have thought of this PRIOR to blatantly just stepping out into the path of moving traffic. What about the affects to the truck driver of this man's unsafe actions? How about what the driver of the red car has experienced now as a result of being hit by such a large truck in avoiding hitting the worker due to the worker's own negligence?
