ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - A 15 foot wide sinkhole opened up in the city of Altoona and now crews are trying to fix it.

This sinkhole appeared in the 18th avenue alley between tenth and Eleventh Street.

A sewer manhole collapse around the old brick lines.

Crews have already been working a couple of days digging 17 feet down to make repairs.

The Altoona water authority says the lines are old and starting to break down, but it could have been a lot worse.

The job could take two to three more days to finish, but no one is losing sewer or water service during the repairs.
