The flu continues to be widespread across Pennsylvania, but the virus may have peaked. The number of people going to emergency departments and doctors'  offices with flu symptoms, last week, started going down in all regions of the state.

Also fewer  flu cases were reported or confirmed. Last week, 35 deaths were related to influenza, for a total of 75 for the whole flu season. Most of those who died were 65 or older. No children in PA have died of the flu.

Meantime, one area hospital should have some extra protection against influenza. Mount Nittany Medical Center says almost 88-percent of its workers and 85 percent of its volunteers have been vaccinated.
