Police say back on December 18th, two men dressed like police officers went into a home on the 1300 block of 9th street in Altoona and stole money. Friday one of the same men came back, still dressed like a cop, and demanded more money. He left a phone number for the victims to call within 24 hours when they had the money.
Those people called the real police instead, and the Altoona Police were waiting for the suspect when he came for his money.
Police charged Stephen Espenlaub with Robbery, Burglary, Aggravated Assault and other violations after police found a collection of firearms, and fake police uniforms in his home. Espenlaub told police Angel Vazquez was his partner in the original home invasion. Vazquez faces the same charges as Espenlaub.
