A number of county offices are expected to move to new locations in the courthouse over the next several months as the renovation work proceeds. First is the transformation of some office space on the fourth floor of the building that used to contain part of the county's mental health department.
"Renovations continue on the relocation of the Commissioner's offices to the fourth floor," said Blair County Commissioner Diane Meling. "This is kind of the first step in this whole series of dominoes that have to take place. The ultimate goal of this whole project is to move the Sheriff's Department up from the basement to the first floor."
The schedule for completing the renovation work on the courthouse is open ended because the construction work is being done by county employees.
They can be called off the job any time there is other property maintenance required.
