Incumbent Sam Smith was in a tough battle against Cris Dush.  Smith lost Jefferson County but was the clear leader in Indiana and Armstrong counties.

In the State Representative race for the 66th District, there were three Republicans from Jefferson County, but only one seat available.

The candidates included current Speaker of the House and long time incumbent Sam Smith, retired prison guard Cris Dush and librarian James Brown.  The unofficial results show Smith in the lead with 47%.

For 50 years a Smith has held the seat. For 24 it was Sam Smith's father and then Sam took over. State Representative hopeful Cris Dush campaigned strong with the slogan "It is time."  Dush won Jefferson County by about 50 votes.

Smith vowed to continue his strict approach to quality education, job creation and conserving natural resources. The unofficial results show Sam Smith in the lead with 48% compared to Dush's 42%.
