Local high school football stars led the way Saturday night as the West squad defeated the East, 24-14 in the 7th annual PSFCA East-West All-Star game at Mansion Park in Altoona.

The West squad, coached by Tyrone boss, John Franco (the first Blair County Head Coach in the all-star game's history), jumped out to an early 14-0 lead on touchdown runs by Scott Lewis from Bishop McCort, and Hollidaysburg blanket winner, Matt Wimbush.

Tyrone graduate, Tyler Gillmen recovered an East fumble on special teams, and State College receiver, Andrew Kerr hauled in a second-half touchdown pass.

It was the West's second win in 7 years of the all-star clash.  The Saturday night game capped a week of activities for the East-West All-Stars, that included visits to DelGrosso's Family Amusement Park in Tipton, and  visits with area veterans at the James Van Zandt Hospital in Altoona, and the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.  Players stayed with local host families in Blair County and surrounding communities.

The 8th Annual PSFCA East-West All-Star game is scheduled for June 28th, 2007.
