Gary Little was sitting in traffic Thursday for an accident along Interstate 80 in Clearfield County at mile marker 134. That's when he says he looked in his rear view mirror and knew something bad was about to happen.
"You could see the truck coming over the hill and it was just going too fast to stop," Little said. "I told Dad to hang on, we're probably going to be in a wreck."
A tractor trailer, traveling too quickly for the slick conditions, tried to slow down for traffic, but couldn't stop in time. That's when he swerved into the left lane, hitting eight other cars.
"The dodge was up on the guardrails, it spun clear around, did a 180 and went back the other way," Little said.
Police say this stretch of interstate sees accidents like this one a lot, especially during inclement weather. They say this accident is the first major one this winter.
"The overpasses there tend to freeze before the major roadways, so people need to be safe on Interstate 80, any stretch of it," Cpl. Brothers of PSP Woodland said.
Police say the three people injured in the accident are expected to be okay.
