In this week's Life & Health, we're focusing on an issue that plagues us all during these dry, cold, winter months...dry skin!

Here to give us some good advice about taking care of our skin, is Camille Brown, an Aesthetician from Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery with Mount Nittany Physican Group.

Harshly cold temperatures dehydrate your skin, and the dry heat indoors also takes the moisture out of your skin.  Those with rosacea and eczema may notice an aggravation due to harsh weather conditions.

Brown says, you can help protect your skin by bundling up, and wearing a neckwarmer or scarf up around your face.  She recommends always wearing gloves, even for quick trips in and out of the car.  Brown says it helps to lather some moisturizer on your hands, before putting on gloves, to help put a protective, moisturizing barrier into your skin.  She also recommends, getting a humidifier to help put moisture back in the air.

When it comes top picking a good moisturizer, Brown says you should pick one that contains good fats, like coconut, shea butter or avocado.

Finally she says, don't forget to put on sunscreen.  She says it's a major misconception that you don't need to wear sunscreen in the winter, because the winter sun glares off of the snow and onto your skin.
