IRVING, TEXAS -- Hostess, the maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs, announced Friday it is going out of business and laying off all of its 18,500 workers.

The announcement comes following a strike by thousands of workers nationwide crippled its ability to deliver its products.

Hostess is expected to be in U.S. Bankruptcy Court Monday and said last week if a motion is granted to wind down operations, the company will begin closing operations as early as Tuesday.
