Penn State gave up a 20-6 halftime lead, to fall to the #16 Huskers, 32-23.

Despite the loss, Zach Zwinak had a season-high 141 yards rushing, capped off by a season-long 50-yard TD that gave Penn State a 7-0 lead.

The Nittany Lions worked their way up to lead 20-6 at the half, but the Huskers staged a comeback in the third quarter scoring 14 points.  Nebraska took the lead in the 4th quarter to lead 27-23.

Penn State came close to re-taking the lead with about 5 minutes to go, but Penn State fumbled in the endzone on a controversial call.

The Nittany Lions could not recover, and fell 32-23.  Penn State will return home for their final two games of the season, first hosting Indiana next Saturday (11/17).

There seems to be a pattern in big games this year for PSU. This pattern being a FAILURE to maintain momentum AFTER THE HALF. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We saw it with Ohio State......and now NEBRASKA. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You know,..... one of the fundamental duties of a COACH and a COACHING STAFF has to be the ability to communicate to the players the importance of KEEPING THE MOMENTUM GOING!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOMENTUM is a purely PSYCHOLOGICAL aspect to the game, which, (as a true coach should be aware), should always be addressed when LEADING at HALFTIME Because, MOMENTUM, if left UNADDRESSED AT THE HALF, can result in MENTAL LAPSES by young college men!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And these lapses always result in SQUANDERED OPPORTUNITIES and subsequent LOSSES!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Obviously Penn State is in need of Monkeyknuckles as a Special Assistant to the Penn State Football coaching staff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can make this claim with a degree of credibility because of my statements here,(which you would be hard pressed to argue against), combined with the frequent and apparently UN ADDRESSED momentum lapses ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------. But the services of the Monkey don't come cheaply.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And this is not to be interpreted as some kind of personal attack on Coach O'Brien. All coaches can use expert assistants. So I would never attack a Coach on personal grounds? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Personal attacks include relentless inquiry on what any given Coach eats after a game, or whether he sleeps with his wife on gameday (including the disrespectful attempt to uncover sexual position preferences) or criticism on what kind of toilet paper he uses. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I bring this subject up because there are classless media that will unwisely initiate personal and disrespectful inquiries .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. And as far as I am concerned relentless, and classless personal attacks by unrestrained media could very well and understandably COST the journalist responsibleTHEIR LIFE! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And the media can be rather Masochistic sometimes in the seeming desire to provoke some kind of altercation that could very possibly cost them a life. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I personally detest the media in that regard. So would never pry into off field activities, or attack the Coach on personal grounds. The Monkey only sticks to the issues. So all of those ready to say "The Monkey doesn't like Coach" are advised to SHUT UP!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Monkey only suggests these things as a Penn State Football fan.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But I know this.....if I was on the staff and brought up MOMENTUM at the half .........Penn State wouldn't have lost to Nebraska. On a more positive note I was impressed with how Mike Mauti stepped up in causing the one turnover. Just before that play the Monkey said to a unnamed PSU grad "I want to see Mauti step up". And the very next play he did. I would have like to seen the entire offense match that kind of intensity with momentum So the rule is Offense=Momentum and Defense=Intensity You drill these two into a decent team and you will win.
