LOGAN TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY -- Nicole Lawrence, now 21, opens up about the night a speeding car with no headlights crashed into the car that she and her 4 friends were riding in November 1, 2009.

The crash happened at the intersection of Juniata Gap Road and Chestnut Avenue near Altoona.  One of the girls, 19-year-old Nicole Chauvet, died from her injuries.

All were freshmen at Penn State Altoona.

Lawrence suffered numerous broken bones and other internal injuries.  She spent one month in the hospital and was back in school in two months.

She is now at the main campus, still cheerleading, and thankful to be alive while hoping to keep the memory of her friend alive.
