USA Women's Volleyball On Their Way to Gold

By: Brian Stalter
Updated: July 30, 2012
Former PSU volleyball standouts are making a name for themselves at the 2012 games in London as the U.S. women's national team starts its quest for gold. Christa Harmotto and Megan Hodge made the final 12 women roster as the London games get under way. Alisha Glass and Nicole Fawcett who are also former Penn State alums have made the final roster of eight replacement players for the U.S.A Women's National Team.

These four young volleyball standouts helped lead Penn State to four consecutive NCAA championships in women's volleyball. Harmotto and Fawcett helped lead the women's squad to two national titles in 2007(34-2) and 2008(38-0). Hodge and Glass also helped Penn State raise the national championship in the 2007, 2008, and 2009(38-0) seasons. This was the only time in NCAA women's volleyball history that a team won three consecutive championships.

With two victories already under the national teams belt against Korea and Brazil , the USA will have a tough road ahead of them with three games remaining in the group play.
