TIPTON, BLAIR COUNTY -- In 2011, there were less than 12,000 alcohol related crashes in Pennsylvania which killed 425 people.

Pam Kane, PennDOT's Safety Press Officer says that during the holidays, it's a fine line between letting loose, and putting lives in jeopardy.

"We don't care if you have a good time, and if you party, all we're asking is that you celebrate responsibly.  Don't drink and drive, don't drive impaired on anything, drugs, alcohol, you name it.  We just want people to make it home safely,"  Kane says.  "One drink when you're driving is too many.  Impairment starts with the very first drink, so if you're going to drive, just don't drink.  If you're going to drink, just don't drive."

Local police and PennDOT held their DUI Education Day at DelGrosso's Amusement Park on Monday.  The event shows a car that crashed in an alcohol related accident. A reminder that July 4th, like many holidays, brings plenty of celebration.

Ferguson Township Police Officer Travis Park says that the car is a visual reminder of the consequences of drinking and driving.  "I think with the crashed car, it really can bring home people being able to see what the car looks like and that this is real life, crashed vehicle," he said.

Kane also adds that the car is not just a vivid reminder to not drink and drive, but also to wear your seatbelt and not drive aggressively.

There will be plenty of DUItask forces and check points around the park and the whole state on July 4th to get impaired drivers off the road.
