Shaffer Breaks Juniata Heptathlon Record at Lynchburg Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Juniata College track and field's junior Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) broke her own Juniata record in the heptathlon with 4,063 points Tuesday at the Lynchburg Open in Lynchburg, Va.

Shaffer completed the competition holding eighth place overall and beat her record set earlier this season at the Messiah Invitational by one point.

Shaffer completed the 800m run in 2:36.84, just two seconds off her personal best, threw the javelin 70' 7.0", and in the long jump, she leapt 16' 3.

In hopes of reaching NCAA Nationals, select athletes will compete in the Allegheny Gator Open on Friday, May 11, in Meadville, Pa.
