CHICAGO (AP) - The surging Chicago Cubs expanded their National
League Central lead to three and a-half games with an 8-0 victory
over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The second place Milwaukee Brewers
dropped a 7-4 decision to Atlanta.
Carlos Zambrano got his career-best 17th win by pitching six
sharp innings before leaving with cramps. He's got 13 losses.
The Cubs have won 10 of 12 and are off tomorrow before hitting
the road for their final six games, at Florida and Cincinnati.
They'll be trying to wrap up their first playoff berth since 2003.
Derrek Lee and Ronny Cedeno (seh-DAYN'-yoh) homered as the Cubs
sent the Pirates to their ninth straight loss.
Tom Gorzelanny (gohr-zuh-LAH'-nee) took the loss and is
14-and-9.
