Gordon earned the prime position with his lead in the point standings after Friday's qualifying was canceled due to rain.
Denny Hamlin will start on the outside of the front row. Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Burton round out the top five.
Some stories to watch this wee:
Tony Stewart was won back-to-back July races at Daytona, but rides a 25-race drought into the Pepsi 400. Stewart stands in 8th place in series points.
Dale Earnhardt Junior will race his last Daytona race with DEI, the company founded by his late father. Dale Earnhardt was killed in a last-lap crash in the Daytona 500 in 2001. Five months later, Junior took the checkered flag in the Pepsi 400. It was Little-E's last points race win the superspeedway, and he'd love to leave DEI with another trip to Daytona's victory lane.
Kevin Harvick rides into Florida this weekend looking for a season sweep at the superspeedway after winning the superbowl of stock car racing, the Daytona 500 in February. For more information, click here.
