The one major sport the Steel City is missing might be coming.

NBA Commissioner David Stern was speaking to the Houston Chronicle about possible NBA expansion and mentioned Pittsburgh as a possible fit for a NBA team.

Stern said, "I keep a little green book with a list of all the cities interested in NBA teams and could respond pretty quickly... There's all kinds of stuff going on in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Louisville, Virginia Beach, Las Vegas, Vancouver, Mexico City, Kansas City..."

Pittsburgh has hosted a couple of American Basketball Association franchises and most recently a Continental Basketball Association team, the Pittsburgh Xplosion in 2004-2008. The city has never hosted a NBA team.
