HARRISBURG - A bill trying to keep all the fines Penn State was ordered to pay is one step closer to law. The $60 million dollars in fines were just one part of the sanctions leveled against Penn State in the wake of the Sandusky Scandal.
Senator Jake Corman's bill passed through the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously Monday. It could be voted on by the full senate sometime this week.
Earlier this month Corman scored another victory for his bill when a judge ordered that the NCAA couldn't spend any of the $12 million Penn State has already paid in fines while talks continue to keep the money in Pennsylvania.
