"See Something, Send Something" Police App

They aren't physically attached to our hips, but cell phones have quickly become a key part of our everyday lives.
"It's really become something that I don't think I could live without it because I use it so often," Wayne Ayer of Hollidaysburg says.
With phones basically turning into pocket computers, the Pennsylvania State Police has come up with an App allowing you to alert them of a crime without making a single phone call.
The App is called "See Something, Send Something."
If you spot suspicious activity you can take a picture or send a note that goes directly to police.
"It will go to a criminal intelligence center where an analyst will get the information, analyze it and then see if further investigation is warranted," Trooper Jeff Petucci of the Pennsylvania State Police says.
Police say one of the perks of the App is that it allows you to be an extra set of eyes and ears, because as much as they try, they can't be everywhere.
"If they do see something suspicious, maybe a suspicious package that's unattended, then maybe that's something that they can alert us with maybe take a picture send it in and in some case maybe even call 911 as well.
As technology continues to develop. Petucci says it's important for law enforcement to stay on top of the game.
"I think the technology today can really help out law enforcement and this is just one of the ways in which we can do that," Petucci says.
And with this easy to use App, some people in the area are ready to help.
"Whatever I can do to help our community and keep my family safe I'll use it for that purpose absolutely," Ayer said.
The new App is free to use and is available for both IPhone and Android devices.
