A local fire company in Three Springs is hoping to help make a difference.
It's a sound Chief Arthur Reece hasn't heard in several months.
"Before, life was tranquil, now it's a disaster," Reece said. "Everyday, you have to take it one day at a time."
Reece is the Fire Chief in Lavallette, New Jersey.
"We got hit with a lot of water," he said. "Five feet of water. Our fire house is destroyed, we lost our apparatus, a couple of utility vehicles."
Several of his company members are still without homes today.
"I would probably say about 10 or 12 of my members are still displaced," Reece said.
After hearing their story on social media, Three Springs Fire Company knew something had to be done.
"The day before Christmas, we got connected and made a phone call to Art that said, 'Merry Christmas, we have an engine to give to you,'" Three Springs Chief David Grace said. "Today they're receiving it from us as a donation."
Sunday, that sound is like music to Reece's ears.
"Words can't describe the emotions that were involved in donating this fire truck," he said. "It's nuts."
And he says it's not just the generous donation he's thankful for.
"Firefighting has always been a family and now, it's overextended into state borders, which has been beautiful and these guys are top notch, top notch," Reece said.
