(State College, Pa) - Even though Sam Ficken had his struggles, and Penn State came out of Virginia on the short end 17-16 Saturday, progress was still made.

A Nittany Lion defense that couldn't get off the field in a week 1 loss to Ohio, forced 4 turnovers, and other than Virginia's eventual game winning drive, gave the Penn State offense chance after chance to put Virginia away.

Junior linebacker Glenn Carson, who had 5 tackles, and converted a fake punt on a 4th down in the 2nd quarter saying he notices the defense making strides.
