Neo-Nazi Ties Cause Rower To Leave London

By: Brian Stalter

The Germany Women's eight person rowing team was eliminated from competition, but Nadja Drygalla will be leaving the city a bit earlier due to her boyfriend's political ties.

Drygalla's boyfriend is a member of the Rostock National Socialists which German intelligence describes as Neo-Nazi group and highly racist. Though Drygalla made no inflammatory statements at the games, she voluntarily left London as not to burden her team.

This is not Drygalla's first problem with extremist ties, during training with a German police forces last year it was discovered that she had acquaintances in the far-right political group.  She resigned for the force last September after talks with superiors.

German media reports that photos of Drygalla with extremists have been circulating the internet.
