Local Outlet Helping Make American Dream Come True

BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY - For five years one local outlet has been helping make the American dream come true for many area families.

"You don't realize how many things are in here, like the old joke says, including the kitchen sink," Habitat for Humanity Homeowner, Fay McKenzie said.

Windows, fixtures, sliding glass doors, everything you need to build the home of your dreams -- for a fraction of the price.

It's all at ReStore, and it all helped put a roof over Fay McKenzie's head.

That's because everything sold at ReStore helps support Habitat for Humanity.

Saturday,  local Habitat for Humanity families were on hand to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the non-profit Bellefonte store, which sells donated new and used building materials to fund local Centre County Habitat building projects.

"Probably the most exciting part would be working with our partner families, because they come and help out and volunteer in the store," ReStore manager, Jennifer Wolfe said.

Families like Neely Latham's, whose habitat home was built more than five years ago.

"It's amazing because we never would have been able to afford a house, there's just no way," Latham said.

Now, Latham is working to let others know you don't have to spend a lot to build the home of your dreams, and make somebody else's home owning dream come true.

"It makes you feel good to know that you're touching somebody's life in such a big way," she adds.
