DENVER (AP) - Pittsburgh's Josh Phelps swung the big bat in the Pirates 5-1 win over the Rockies in Denver.

He was 4-for-5 and drove in three runs. The four hits is a career high. Phelps was acquired off waivers from the Yankees in June. He was making just his sixth start for the Pirates.  Paul Maholm  struck out five for his fifth win in seven starts.  Franklin Morales was the losing pitcher.

The Pirates took three of four in the series with Colorado. The Rockies have lost four of five.
